About Nanhe Panhe

Encouraging Reading

What We Do

Early years (ages 3-8) are critical for brain development. At Nanhe Panhe we want to encourage reading as a habit in under-privileged children in the age group 5-10 in Tier 2 and 3 cities.

How It Works

Schools catering to underprivileged children in Tier 2 and 3 cities often face challenges in promoting reading and fostering the habit of reading in children, and the culture of the library is slowly fading away.

  • We partner with schools wherein:
  • Schools provide the space, and we stock them with age-appropriate, multilingual books.
  • Teachers are trained as librarians, and children engage in creative activities, reading clubs, and book borrowing.
  • Libraries are refreshed regularly with new books and interactive sessions.
  • Storytelling, reading marathons, and creative workshops help children connect emotionally with stories and develop confidence in reading aloud.

Our Vision

Nanhe Panhe believes reading is not just about letters and words — it's about unlocking imagination, building confidence, and shaping a child's future. Inculcating the habit of reading for underpriviled children can help spark aspirations, build self-worth, and empower them to dream beyond their circumstances.

Our Focus

We address the challenges of limited resources, outdated libraries, and lack of exposure to books by providing:

  • Child-friendly library spaces with colorful furniture and wall art
  • Well-stocked, multilingual, age-appropriate books
  • Teacher training for library management
  • Creative activities like storytelling, art, dramatization, and competitions
  • Integrating a library class/period into the curriculum.
